History as we understand it is a very simple and straightforward matter. Long before the start of the Great Unfolding the Proto-Universe had been filled with many Guards tasked with protecting The Alchemist from threats that arose within itself. In those ancient times, the concept of history did not exist. As such the need for historians was not seriously considered during the preparation stages for the Great Unfolding. However, following the Proto-Universes near collapse into Zero-Dimensional Space the true importance of history became clear. This is when those ancient guards took on a second role as The Historians.
The Historians had two new objectives:
This second goal was born out of a promise made to a Lower-Dimensional Entity after the First Trans-Dimensional War. This promise was honored and will remain honored for as long as the preservation of history is of material and cultural relevance. Those born within the Alchemically Constructed Universe have an easier time understanding this while those from the Homeworld do not.
